Welcome. If you are a former patient, or a first time visitor to my site, and are seeking care management or a referral, please be advised that I retired from active practice in December 2020. After 32 years of a remarkably rewarding career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, the combination of the pandemic, the terminal diagnosis of a close family member, and the sudden closure of the West Seattle, (Remember when that mess was piled onto all the other the COVID related restrictions?), I made the decision to leave active nursing. It was a difficult choice, but the right one for me given the imposing realities at that point in time. And while I still occasionally find myself grieving the loss of the genuine connections I shared with so many patients , I take comfort in, and remain forever grateful for, the memory of the host of care journeys in which I was honored to share.

But now, here we are… While mental health concerns are on the rise in this country, access to mental health services remains a challenge, a challenge compounded by economic, racial, and gender disparities. The residual impact of the pandemic, coupled with other ongoing global concerns such as the rise of nationalism, climate change, and employment uncertainty in the face of technological advancement have escalated our collective need for mental health support, putting added pressure on a complex system that was already overtaxed.

Hopelessness sets in when we can not secure timely information or guidance in the face of acute or chronic illness. The articles and resource provided within these pages are intended to bridge that divide, to empower you either as a consumer or a provider of services. Together we can steward change.
